and Rayna Mathis, who edits monthly Earshot Jazz, publication of Seattle’s festival-presenting organization. They are candid and forthcoming about their work.

And speaking of Chrys Roney’s brilliant brother Wallace Roney, here he’s age 29, with tenor saxophonist Bill Pierce, pianist Mulgrew Miller, bassist Ira Coleman, in the quintet of unforgettable drummer Tony Williams (Bill Milkowski’s remembrance).
